Previous experience caring for geriatric patients is essential and Med-Surg experience Summary Freedom Behavioral Hospital of Greenville is seeking dependable and compassionate Mental Health Technicians to join our nursing team. The MHT provides direct patient care, supports licensed nursing staff, assists with activities of daily living, helps maintain a safe therapeutic environment, and monitors patients to ensure safety and quality care. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Monitor patients and enforce unit and group rules. Perform safety and contraband rounds. Provide close observation, line-of-sight, and one-to-one monitoring as assigned. Assist patients with ADLs, showers, meals, feeding, oral care, and linen changes. Complete patient belongings inventory during admission and discharge. Take and document vital signs as directed. Communicate patient behavior, concerns, and changes to licensed nursing staff. Assist with therapeutic activities and group assignments. Use therapeutic communication and approved de-escalation techniques. Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, teamwork, and respect at all times. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required. Previous experience with psychiatric, geriatric, or chemical dependency patients preferred. CNA certification. CPR and behavioral management training required or must be obtained. Must have strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions. Physical Requirements Must be able to stand, walk, sit for extended periods, lift/carry as needed, respond to alarms, and work in a behavioral health environment that may involve stressful or crisis situations. Work Environment This is a smoke-free workplace. Employees may be exposed to moderate to high noise levels, cleaning chemicals, and psychiatric patients in acute or crisis situations.
