JOB SUMMARY AND QUALIFICATIONS

The Mental Health Technician functions as a member of the treatment team and accepts responsibilities for specifically assigned duties, such as patient observation rounds, suicide risk observation and assisting with behavior modification programs.   • Maintains a safe environment and appropriate boundaries with patients and staff
  • Must be able to work on any unit there is a need as deemed necessary by supervisor
  • Documentation of patient’s well-being and location every 15 minutes or more frequently based on the patient’s condition
  • Ability to provide activities, groups and able to document the patient’s participation in treatment activities

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Prefer either a Bachelor’s degree or an Associate degree
  • Prefer at least one year of experience in the behavioral health field or healthcare setting OR
  • One year of experience involving public contact which may have included providing care or guidance for children, elders or others; volunteer work in providing respite to caregivers; or leading youth groups
  • Must exhibit quality communication skills with the ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • CPR certification within 30 days of hire
  • CPI certification within 30 days of hire
