Description United Recovery Project Behavioral Health is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Technician (MHT) to join our Mental Health Residential Treatment Program. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting patients with high-acuity mental health disorders, including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and other complex psychiatric conditions, while contributing to a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment. Responsibilities include supporting daily patient activities, ensuring safety and compliance, assisting clinical staff, and maintaining accurate documentation. Experience working with mental health or substance use populations is preferred but not required. Candidates must be able to pass a Level 2 background screening in accordance with state regulations. About the Role The Mental Health Technician (MHT) plays a critical role in supporting patients within a structured residential setting. This position is responsible for monitoring patient safety, assisting with daily activities, facilitating therapeutic milieu structure, and providing direct support to individuals with high-acuity psychiatric conditions. MHTs work closely with the clinical and nursing teams to reinforce treatment goals, observe and report patient behaviors, and help maintain a safe and supportive environment. This role focuses on ensuring continuity of care through consistent patient engagement, accurate and timely documentation, and adherence to program protocols. The MHT helps promote stability, structure, and accountability while supporting patients in their progress toward improved mental health and long-term recovery. Key Responsibilities of the MHT Monitor patient safety at all times, including conducting regular rounds and observing behaviors Facilitate and maintain a structured therapeutic milieu in accordance with program schedule Provide emotional support and appropriate redirection to patients as needed Observe, document, and report changes in patient behavior, mood, or condition to the clinical and nursing team Assist in de-escalation of patients using approved techniques and follow all safety protocols Transport/accompany patients to appointments, hospital, and/or discharge referrals Complete timely and accurate documentation in the EMR in compliance with company and regulatory standards Maintain a clean, safe, and organized environment throughout the facility Participate in shift reports, team meetings, and ongoing trainings Ensure compliance with DCF, AHCA, The Joint Commission, and company policies and procedures Perks of the MHT Position • 104 hours of PTO annually • Paid holidays • Medical, dental, and vision benefits • Voluntary benefits available (including Short Term, Accident, Disability, Life Insurance) • Supportive work environment • Career growth About United Recovery Project United Recovery Project offers comprehensive behavioral health programs designed to support patients through every stage of recovery. Pay Range $16.00 to $20.00 per hour commensurate with experience. Requirements Qualifications of the Mental Health Technician (MHT): Valid and active Driver’s License required Basic computer literacy required Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in a mental health or behavioral health setting preferred Experience working with high-acuity or residential populations is a plus KIPU EMR knowledge preferred Current CPR and First Aid certification preferred Ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, and flexible shifts as needed High School Diploma or GED required (some college coursework in a related field preferred) Must be able to pass a Level 2 Background Screening in accordance with state regulations #PM23
