The Opportunity: As part of a multi-disciplinary team, the Mental Health Therapist provides a range of mental health services to children, youth and their families within a First Nations cultural and socioeconomic setting. Therapy service areas may include: Trauma, Anger, Spirituality, Parenting, Abuse, Confusion, Stress, Grief, Depression, Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Dissociation, Substance Abuse and Addiction issues.

  • Delivers a variety of evidence-based counselling and intervention approaches tailored to meet the unique needs of each client (e.g., CBT, DBT, solution-focused, motivational interviewing, EMDR, play therapy).
  • Liaises with a multidisciplinary team of health and social service professionals to assist with case planning, assessment, treatment implementation, including follow-up and case management. Participates in ICT meetings.
  • Responds to acute mental health concerns, including suicidal ideation, self-harm, and substance use; conducts risk assessments and develops safety plans as needed.
  • Conduct periodic evaluations of client intervention programs to ensure ongoing effectiveness.

  • Master’s degree in Social Work, Educational Counseling, or Clinical Psychology
  • Registered with respective professional body (CCPA, BCACC, BCASW, ICBOC, ACCT or CPCA)
  • Two years of related experience with responsibility for providing a range of community-based mental health services.
