Mental Health Worker Canada Summer Job 2026 Nichol Place Temporary Full Time Posting Date: Location: Wage: Hours of Work: Closing Date: April 8, 2026 Surrey, BC $17.85 per hour (subject to funding model) 35 Hours per week May 8, 2026 Options Community Services is a non-profit organization dedicated to delivering social services across the Southern Fraser region (Surrey, Delta, White Rock and Langley) from early childhood to seniors. Our comprehensive range of programs and services relies on collaborative relationships with individuals, businesses, community groups and government bodies to create focused, effective and responsive resources for the community. POSITION OVERVIEW Ready to make a difference in mental health? Join us as a Mental Health Worker! Help clients with psychosocial rehabilitation, focusing on recovery, community integration, and improving quality of life. Reporting to the Program Manager, the selected candidate will encourage clients in problem-solving, conflict resolution, goal setting, and medication management. They will provide direct, "hands-on" life skills training, such as assisting with grocery shopping and accessing public transportation, and advocate on behalf of clients to ensure their needs are met. The candidate will assist in completing individualized service plans, collaborate with clients to identify areas of need, and develop specific, attainable goals. QUALIFICATIONS The ideal candidate must have previous experience in a similar role or a background in social services, along with knowledge of homelessness issues and an understanding of trauma-informed care. They must be able to handle emergency situations calmly and efficiently, with strong communication and interpersonal skills. Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental attitude are essential. The candidate should also have knowledge of community resources and support services, the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team, excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively, and basic computer skills for data entry and communication purposes. This is funded by the Government of Canada through the Canada Summer Jobs Program. Qualified candidates must be: * Aged between 15 and 30 years old on the start date of the job; * Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN); and * Be a Canadian citizen, a permanent Resident of Canada, or a person who has been granted refugee status in Canada. This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Police Information Check (PIC), and a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.
