JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under the direction of the Mental Health and Well-Being Lead the Mental Health Worker will provide psychoeducation groups to students relating to stress management, emotion regulation, social skill development and building resilience. In addition to the direct service with students, providing professional learning opportunities to school staff and parents will be expected. The Mental Health Worker will work with school teams to support the mental health needs of students at the Kindergarten to Grade 6 level as well as at the intermediate and high school level (i.e., classroom presentations, group work and seeing students individually at the Tier 2 level if needed). Data collection will be included in this role to evaluate the impact of services.
The Mental Health Worker will be an integral member of the SESS team and will contribute within a multidisciplinary framework (understanding all three Tiers of interventions in association to our OCSB Mental Health and Emotional Well-Being strategy). The Mental Health Worker is required to support and recommend best mental health practices at the Tier 1 and 2 level while promoting capacity across our school system.
