EXTRA DUTY PROFESSIONAL

Position Title:

  • Professional Principal Mentor
  • Mountain View Elementary/Middle School

Job Description

  • Pre-conference, observe, and post-conference with assigned administrator.
  • Assist neophyte administrator in issues related to the position.
  • Attend all staff development sessions for administrator and complete necessary assignments if such training is required.
  • Without betraying confidentiality, keep the superintendent informed of interventions with the assigned administrator.
  • Keep all the discussions with the assigned administrator confidential.
  • Learn, practice, and teach helpful administrative strategies to the assigned administrator.
  • Provide documented examples of interventions with the assigned administrator.
  • Complete, maintain and submit to the central office pertinent records as required by the Mentor Principal Program.
  • Develop a professional relationship with the assigned beginning administrator.
  • Complete any other duties assigned by the superintendent.

Qualifications:

  • Valid West Virginia teaching certification and currently employed as a principal in Monroe County Schools.
  • At least five years of experience.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Excellent evaluations.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate people.
  • Interest in assisting principals new to the profession.
  • Ability to assist beginning principal through a supervisory rather than an evaluative approach.
  • Ability to keep confidentiality standards.
  • Interest in learning and teaching new instructional strategies.
  • Willing to attend staff development sessions for mentor administrators.
  • Trained as a mentor principal preferred and willing to be state trained if not qualified.

Immediate Supervisor:

  • Superintendent

Salary:

  • $300 per completed semester.

Effective Date:

  • Upon hire for the 2025-2026 School Year
