Description

WE ARE COMMUNITY LEADERS

Ka Ni Kanichihk is an Indigenous-led, community-based non-profit organization. We walk beside our relatives, offering programs that support healing, cultural reclamation, and empowerment. At the heart of our work is the strength and resilience of Indigenous peoples.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a Mentor to join our Kistesimaw “Eldest Brother” Program. This program supports boys under 12 who may be at risk of coming into contact with the law. Through positive mentorship, advocacy, cultural connection, and recreation, the Mentor helps children build confidence and stay connected to safe, supportive pathways.
This is a part-time position (20 hours per week) where you will have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of young boys and their families. If you are passionate about supporting young Indigenous boys and walking with them on a good path, we would love to hear from you!

Responsibilities
  • Being a role model and positive influence for boys under 12
  • Supporting children, families and caregivers through school-based and community activities
  • Planning and leading fun, safe, and engaging recreation and cultural activities
  • Offering one-on-one mentorship and support to participants
  • Recruiting participants into the program and helping them stay connected
  • Providing safe rides for participants to and from activities
  • Keeping track of activities, writing notes, and sharing updates with the team
  • Helping ensure traditional knowledge is part of the program
  • Working with families, schools, and community partners to support the child
