Description

Casual one-on-one mentoring roles helping people with disability build skills, confidence and independence in the community. No personal care or medication. Regular weekly shifts with the same clients, up to 38 hours a week, paid at SCHADS rates plus 25% casual loading.

What you'll do

Work one-on-one with a client on goals they've chosen, such as:

  • Getting out into the community and building social connection
  • Learning public transport, daily routines and time management
  • Home maintenance and everyday life skills
  • Planning (and going on) holidays
  • Making friends and exploring study or work options

It's relationship-based work built on encouragement, trust and good experiences. No personal care, no medication.

Hours and locations

  • Shifts of 3–6 hours, usually the same day and time each week with the same client
  • Up to 38 hours a week available, with multiple shifts per day possible
  • Suburbs across Perth — tell us where you're based and we'll match you locally
  • Availability on both weekdays and weekends is essential.

Full training is provided and you'll have a team behind you with ongoing guidance — you're not on your own.

Pay and benefits

SCHADS Award, Level 1 Pay Point 2. Casual rates below include the 25% loading (current from 1 July 2026):

  • $35.55 weekdays
  • $39.11 weekday shifts finishing after 8pm
  • $49.77 Saturdays
  • $63.99 Sundays
  • $78.21 public holidays
  • 12% superannuation
  • Award vehicle allowance for driving during shifts (currently $1.05 per km)

What we're looking for

No formal qualifications needed — we hire for the person and train the rest. You'll be:

  • Reliable: on time, every time, and clear in your written shift notes
  • After meaningful, purpose-driven work rather than just a job
  • Energised by helping others learn, grow and have fun
  • Comfortable following a support plan and asking when you're unsure

Experience in disability support, mentoring, youth work, teaching or coaching is a plus, not a must.

You'll need (or be willing to obtain)

  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • First Aid and CPR certificates
  • Valid Australian driver's licence
  • A reliable car with comprehensive insurance

Where this can go

Reliable, high-performing casuals are first in line for part-time and full-time roles, pay point progression and internal opportunities. We'd rather grow people than churn them, and we want mentors who plan to stay.

How to apply

Apply via SEEK with your resume, your suburb and your availability for each day of the week. Cover letter optional.

Please don't call to follow up. Every application is read; only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.

Employer questions

Your application will include the following questions:

  • Do you own or have regular access to a car?
  • Do you have a current Australian driver's licence?
