Description

About Freehand Hospitality
Freehand Hospitality operates a portfolio of distinctive restaurants (plus catering and hotel F&B touchpoints) across Atlantic Canada. We champion quality, creativity, and brand consistency at every guest touchpoint, from menus to matchbooks. If you share our values and would like to work with skilled professionals, Armour is presently seeking a Menu & Collateral Specialist.
Reporting to the Sr Director of Marketing and Communications, the Menu & Collateral Specialist owns the end-to-end quality of menus and branded collateral across the portfolio. This role leads template systems, version control, prepress, and vendor production, ensuring every item is accurate, on-brand, and delivered on time. You’ll collaborate closely with chefs, GMs, and marketing to translate updates into polished, print-ready and web-ready assets. You are hands-on in design tools and exacting in detail (typography, spacing, pricing, allergens, print specs).
In-office with flexibility for production pickups/press checks. Occasional evenings/weekends around menu flips and events. Travel between properties and vendors as needed.

Responsibilities

Menu Ownership

  • Build, maintain, and refine master menu templates (typography, hierarchy, pricing logic, allergen/notation system, bilingual fields if applicable).
  • Intake and traffic menu updates from chefs/ops; manage version control and changelogs (draft → proof → approved → archived).
  • Produce print-ready (PDF/X) and web-ready exports; QA for pricing accuracy, copy tone, and layout consistency.

Collateral Production

  • Scope, design, and preflight coasters, matchbooks, business cards, tent cards, signage, check presenters, and event materials.
  • Create/maintain die-lines, spot colors/Pantone bridges, bleeds, and finishes (foil, emboss, lamination).
  • Manage vendor quotes, paper choices, proofs, and approvals, track timelines and reorder thresholds.

Brand Governance

  • Uphold brand standards (type, color, grids, logo usage) across all restaurants while protecting each concept’s distinct identity.
  • Maintain a shared asset library (logos, icons, patterns, QR codes) and style sheets.
  • Coach stakeholders on best practices; evolve guidelines as new use cases emerge.

Campaign & Event Support

  • Translate campaign/PR/event needs into on-brand collateral sets (menus, invites, table cards, wayfinding, social campaign design, ad design, bar inserts).

Web

  • Publish menu updates to restaurant sites (PDF/HTML); ensure filenames, alt text, and metadata are clean.
  • Complete website updates and basic design improvements.
