Description

JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a qualified and experienced Mechanical QC Engineer to oversee quality assurance and control activities for mechanical systems on a prestigious high-rise construction project in Dubai. The successful candidate will ensure that all mechanical installations meet project specifications, local authority regulations (such as Dubai Municipality and Civil Defense), and international standards. The role involves detailed inspections, testing, documentation, and coordination throughout all project phases—from installation to final handover.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough inspections of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, drainage, and associated piping, to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and applicable codes.
  • Monitor the installation of equipment such as chillers, pumps, air handling units (AHUs), fan coil units (FCUs), fire pumps, and water tanks for conformity and proper functionality.
  • Ensure mechanical systems adhere to local authority requirements (Dubai Municipality, DCD), international codes (ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA), and project-specific standards.
  • Perform inspections and testing of ductwork systems for air leakage, insulation integrity, and support systems.
  • Supervise pressure testing, hydrostatic testing, and flushing of piping systems (chilled water, domestic water, and fire protection systems).
  • Ensure that all mechanical materials and equipment installed on site are approved and match the project’s material submittals.
  • Review and prepare Method Statements, Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), and related QA/QC documentation to align with the project’s quality requirements.
  • Maintain detailed inspection records, test reports, and documentation of non-conformance reports (NCRs) for internal and external audits.
  • Generate and evaluate mechanical quality control reports, highlighting any deviations and coordinating corrective actions with relevant teams.
  • Coordinate with consultants, main contractors, and subcontractors for inspections, testing, and approvals of completed works.
  • Attend project and coordination meetings to provide updates on mechanical quality progress and address quality-related issues proactively.
  • Ensure safety and quality standards are consistently applied during all phases of mechanical system installation and commissioning.
  • Oversee the proper implementation of inspection procedures during installation and testing and commissioning activities.
  • Assist in the functional testing and commissioning of mechanical systems, ensuring performance meets design criteria and project requirements.
  • Support the preparation of final handover documents, including as-built drawings, test results, warranties, and compliance certificates.
  • Verify the closure of all snags and punch list items and ensure rectification of quality-related issues before handover to the client.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly QAQC Reports.
  • Conduct Quality Inductions for all MEP staff and subcontractors.
