What you’ll be doing
The role involves close collaboration with the UKCS Energy team to deliver the ASTI project, coordinating with OEMs, design teams, clients, procurement, planning, quality, supply chain, and operations teams. Responsibilities include developing accurate models, scope packages, ITPs, programs, technical vetting, and providing strategic operational support across MEP aspects, including commissioning. The role ensures construction and financial targets are met using Balfour Beatty’s standard processes.
The role also involves managing strategic customer relationships to meet project business targets and supporting Balfour Beatty’s regional and UKCS objectives to enhance market share and margins. The role spans Gates 4 to 8 of the project lifecycle and supports the Work Winning team during the ECI (Early Contractor Involvement) stage to ensure seamless transition from sales to operations
Who we’re looking for

PERSONAL QUALITIES AND EXPERIENCE

This role is suited for an experienced professional with a proven track record in MEP project management and operational delivery, particularly in new construction projects with portfolio values up to £50m in sales revenue.

Essential Qualities and Experience:

  • MEP Expertise: Extensive construction experience in MEP, with knowledge of utilities, HV/LV infrastructure, earthing, and established contacts with key customers, advisors, and competitors.
  • Strategic Reporting: Proven ability to prepare strategic reports and business plans, including researching and interpreting data.
  • ECI/Bid Experience: Experience working in the ECI/bid stage of multi-disciplinary projects.
  • Business Acumen: Strong ability to identify opportunities to maximize revenue and margins.
  • Customer Relationship Management: Confident in engaging with customers, consultants, and investors, with excellent relationship-building skills.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with confidence in delivering external presentations.
  • Collaboration: Collaborative approach to working across disciplines (e.g., civils, buildings, architectural, OEMs, planning, BIM, quality, procurement, supply chain, DfMA) to maximize performance.
  • Self-Starter: Proactive, with strong time management, attention to detail, and a commitment to completing tasks efficiently.
  • DfMA and Continuous Improvement: Understands and promotes Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • BIM and 4D Planning: Leads the use of Building Information Modelling (BIM) and 4D planning throughout the ECI stage.
