The Team
The global planning team sits within the heart of the global product team. In close collaboration with the business units, it gives strategic direction, sets objectives on collection KPIs, drives pricing strategies, and monitors results, as well as building a close link between countries, retail, ecom and head office to fulfill consumer needs by creating the framework for profitable assortments.
The global planning team is the business units’ partner for data-driven collection planning and decision making. Ensuring the translation of long-term strategic growth into short-term and seasonal objectives in an omni-channel environment. Driving operational excellence through checks and balances of key KPIs to achieve business unit and brand goals. The global planning team is a cross-category team that works closely with individual business units through dedicated global planners.
The Position
Reporting into the global planning director, the global planner plans seasonal range plans that are reflective of the business unit strategies and company KPIs. You will run deep dive analyses on collection performance and support the global planning director in translating the conclusions in storylines presentable to a wider audience. As a skilled user of data sources, you will be an ambassador for data usage.
You will work closely with design, merchandise and product development teams on collection performance and range plan targets while keeping close contact with regional teams to make sure local opportunities are maximized. In parallel, you will help drive product strategies and process improvement projects sitting in the global planning team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understanding of business unit processes and development calendar, monitoring performance and development of multiple seasons
  • Understanding of category & regional financial ambitions and be able to challenge and drive towards strategic common directions
  • Co-own the seasonal planning in alignment with seasonal and yearly financial targets, focusing on growth drivers and merchandise flow while optimizing the balance between product fashionability and lifecycle management
  • Own productivity analysis (ABC, Cutting Long Tail), create visibility of sales analysis (Sell-In, Sell-Out) and create visual aids to draw conclusions to support the right category development
  • Conduct pricing analysis (including elasticity and competition analysis) and utilize those inputs to co-create, together with Merchandising, Category pricing strategies
  • Own the seasonal forecast, execute continuous check and balance on seasonal collection development, liaising with designers, merchandisers and product development
  • Track and bring visibility around seasonal margin development within the category and define specific actions to drive margin improvements
  • Post-Seasonal in-depth analyses on collection performance, as input for Range Plan targets
  • Updating and maintaining periodic master data reports and workbooks and identify master data quality issues in reports
  • Being an ambassador and driver towards design, merchandisers and product developers to use Tableau, master data reports or other reporting tools
  • Handling detailed data requests outside of Tableau and master data reports
  • Involvement as expert in new projects within the global planning team

The Ideal Candidate:

  • 4+ years planning experience in a retail industry
  • Proven track record of creating productive working relationships
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, understanding how big datasets are build
  • Must be an effective communicator, able to manage expectations with different stakeholders and prioritize during conflicting deadlines
  • Proactive attitude and growth mindset with ability to work under pressure in a dynamic environment with ad hoc deadlines
  • Methodical, numerical and analytical mindset
  • Team player and flexibility in working hours e.g. overtime in peak periods
  • Good understanding of merchandising and planning, interest in fashion
  • Proven capability to proactively solve straightforward challenges
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written as verbal
