Role Overview Mercor is collaborating with a leading AI research organization seeking exceptional early-career software engineers from the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. This short-term engagement offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and optimization of advanced AI systems. Participants will work on high-impact engineering projects requiring strong technical execution, precision, and adaptability. This is a 2-week project-based contract ideal for independent contributors with strong software engineering fundamentals. Key Responsibilities Evaluate and annotate code snippets, scripts, and software tasks for accuracy and quality. Identify logical errors, inefficiencies, and improvements in code samples. Provide structured feedback on programming logic, implementation, and clarity. Work independently to meet daily annotation and review goals. Maintain consistency and precision when applying labeling guidelines. Ideal Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field. Proficiency in more than one major programming language (Python, C++, Go, or Java). Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, debugging, and code analysis. Exceptional analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. Prior experience working on structured software engineering evaluations or benchmarks is a plus. Residency in one of the following regions: United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, or New Zealand. More About the Opportunity Fully remote and asynchronous — set your own schedule. Expected commitment: 20–30 hours per week. Project duration: approximately 2 weeks. Short-term, high-intensity contract supporting cutting-edge AI development.
