JOB OVERVIEW

As Foreman, you’ll lead a team of fabricators and welders in our Austin facility, ensuring jobs are accurately built, safely executed, and delivered on time. You’ll coordinate with clients, project managers, and QA/QC to maintain productivity and quality, while enforcing OSHA and industry compliance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in various welding techniques and fabrication processes, along with the ability to read blueprints and schematics. This role involves working with different materials, including stainless steel, while adhering to ASME codes and standards.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience in metal fabrication, with at least 2 years in supervisory or lead capacity
  • Strong skillset in MIG/TIG/Stick welding and familiarity with steel, stainless steel, aluminum, etc.
  • Ability to read and interpret fusion weld specs, blueprints, and fabrication layouts
  • Hands-on with shop equipment: CNC, press brakes, plasma cutters, shears, grinders
  • Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA standards and Texas-specific safety regulations
  • High school diploma or GED; technical school or certifications (AWS CWI, welding school, NCCER) preferred
  • Must be able to lift 50+ lbs and work in a physically demanding, fast-paced shop setting

Responsibilities
  • Supervise, coach, and direct fabrication staff (welders, helpers, machinists)
  • Interpret and verify blueprints, weld symbols, fabrication drawings, and material specs
  • Delegate daily assignments, prioritize workload, and monitor production flow
  • Inspect components for dimensional accuracy, weld quality, and spec conformity
  • Enforce safety protocols, ensure proper PPE usage, and uphold OSHA standards (29 CFR Part 1910)
  • Provide on-the-job training in welding techniques, best practices, and shop equipment
  • Collaborate with engineers, QC inspectors, and clients to resolve technical issues
  • Maintain shop equipment, coordinate preventive maintenance, and monitor tooling/material stock
  • Assist in scheduling, estimating, labor allocation, and continuous improvement efforts
