QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

For this position, it is expected that you would possess the following qualifications and/or work experience:
· A Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade or higher qualification in Fabrication Trade studies with at least one year of full-time experience working in a Metal Fabricator role. This formal qualification can be substituted by at least three years of work experience in a Metal Fabricator role.
Attributes such as the ability to perform under pressure and high attention to detail will be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

Select Events is looking for an experienced and qualified Metal Fabricator for an immediate start. This position is a full-time ongoing position, working 38 hours per week, based in Regent Park, NSW, 2143.
Working as a Metal Fabricator, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:
· Interpreting technical drawings and specifications to fabricate custom metal components and structural elements for marquees and tents, ensuring high accuracy and precision in every project.
· Selecting appropriate materials according to job specifications, including metal type, profile, size, and thickness, to ensure accuracy and quality in fabrication.
· Measuring and marking metal materials to specified lengths and shapes, then using metal cutting machines, such as a cold saw for steel and power tools like an angle grinder, to achieve precise cuts.
· Operating a radial arm drilling machine to drill aluminium and steel components for tents and marquees, enabling precise bolted connections for secure assembly.
· Performing welding operations on various tent components, primarily mild steel, utilising MIG welding techniques along with other welding methods to ensure structural integrity.
· Conducting detailed inspections of welds to assess penetration depth, dimensional accuracy, and identify any potential defects or inconsistencies.
· Ensuring all metalwork for tents and marquees is completed to a high standard by finishing fabricated parts through cleaning, filing, polishing, and grinding.
