Description DESCRIPTION The Metal Processing Lead is responsible for leading and coordinating the daily loading and unloading of inbound and outbound trailers, weighing and documenting, and material identification and sorting activities. This position ensures work is performed safely, efficiently, and according to company standards. The Lead also provides training, direction, and support to other processors and works closely with the other teams to maintain productivity and material quality. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Lead daily metal processing and warehouse operations, including the safe and timely loading/unloading of trailers and the organization of materials. Set priorities and delegate tasks to other team members to maintain consistent workflow and meet deadlines. Ensure compliance with all safety procedures, including equipment operation, PPE, and housekeeping standards. Operate a forklift in a safe manner Operate shipping and receiving software to accurately account for product: RIMAS, Outlook, Excel Separate scrap metal into designated boxes, drums, or containers Per customer specifications. Most material must be loaded a certain way Determine the grade of materials by working with the Commercial Team to accurately price while keeping the benefit of the customer in mind Inspect outgoing loads for accuracy, grade, and quality before release Read PO’s and follow processes per given instructions as customers dictate Assist the Scale Buyers and Warehouse Processors as needed with: Baling Shearing Sorting And other materials processing duties Serve as the point of contact for on-shift operational questions, ensuring communication flows effectively between team members and Leadership. Monitor equipment and workflows, reporting maintenance needs or production issues to supervisors promptly. Other duties as assigned Requirements QUALIFICATIONS Education High School Diploma or equivalent Work Experience Previous experience in weigh or scale operation Previous salvage yard or part disassembler Shipping and Receiving Skills and Knowledge Reliable attendance Strong English communication skills (verbal & written) Color Vision with the ability and willingness to learn to recognize and classify metals such as brass, copper, stainless steel, aluminum, and other metals Able to meet the physical demands of this position Able to stand, walk, lift, bend, squat, stoop, etc. for long periods of time Ability to lift 25lbs frequently and up to 80lbs as necessary Willing to learn and strictly follow all company safety procedures Ability to read, comprehend and follow written procedures, container labels and safety precautions Great attention to detail Working Conditions This role is carried out in a warehouse environment and at times outside. Must be able to work in all weather conditions
