Boeing Commercial Airplanes is excited to offer opportunities for a Metal Structures Technician to join our Fabrication team in Auburn, WA!
As a Metal Structures Technician, you will be essential to our manufacturing operations, focusing on the quality and safety of metal components. Your role involves ensuring that these components comply with established standards and specifications, which is critical for the performance of our aircraft. Position Responsibilities:

  • Perform all tasks related to the preparation, setup, and operation of thermal processing tools and equipment, including Super Plastic Forming (SPF) dies and blanks.
  • Cut and inspect materials to ensure they meet quality specifications, adapting cutting equipment as necessary.
  • Create and maintain job files, setup data, and backup information to support all operations.
  • Interpret standard work instructions, charts, blueprints, and job layouts to accomplish assigned tasks effectively.
  • Ensure proper machine operation through necessary adjustments and routine preventative maintenance, maintaining cleanliness and functionality of equipment.
  • Detect and address faulty tools and equipment, diagnosing and correcting malfunctions in machining and assembly processes.
  • Set automated or mechanized welding machines to prescribed certification settings, producing test samples to verify compliance.
  • Execute product finishing processes, including scraping, grinding, and deburring, as well as performing riveting, assembly, and subassembly tasks.
  • Utilize precision measuring instruments and gauges to check machine readiness and verify that completed parts meet finish, dimensions, and quality requirements.
  • Coordinate the preparation and movement of materials and tools within the cell, operating riding-type electric powered elevating equipment as needed.
  • Maintain necessary certifications, licenses, and permits for assigned work, coordinating equipment certification requirements.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Planning teams to develop new procedures, techniques, and production aids to enhance equipment operations and support new product implementation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in Fabrication of airplane parts
  • Experience in Fabrication of temporary tooling

TYPICAL EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

High school graduate or GED preferred.
