Job Description We’re looking for an experienced Laboratory Manager to lead a busy metallurgical laboratory in Welshpool. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who enjoys managing people, coordinating projects, working closely with clients, and making sure laboratory work is delivered safely, on time and to a high standard. The role will be directly involved with our expansion stage into a new, larger facility located in South Guildford, allowing the new manager to guide the metallurgical laboratory through a growth transition to larger opportunities. Responsibilities include, however not limited to: Lead day-to-day laboratory operations, projects and testing programs to meet deadlines, budgets and quality standards. Build strong relationships with clients, team members, suppliers and contractors through clear, regular communication. Plan work schedules, equipment use and staffing needs so jobs run smoothly and efficiently. Prepare clear quotations and proposals, and keep project scope, timing and costs on track. Review technical data and reports, and make sure records are accurate and up to date. Monitor project progress, manage variations, and review invoices within agreed timeframes. Maintain quality systems, document control and laboratory standards, including reviewing non-conformance reports. Support and develop your team through training, coaching and workforce planning. Lead by example in safety, accountability and teamwork, including participating in regular team and safety meetings. Qualifications The ideal candidate will have: A degree in Extractive Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or a similar field. Strong project management and leadership skills. Confidence working across different commodities and processing methods. Clear written and verbal communication skills, including report writing.
