Responsibilities

The Carrapateena copper concentrator is growing and has an exciting portfolio of expansion projects and plant optimisation opportunities. We are looking for self-driven, enthusiastic project metallurgist to join our team.
This role is located at Carrapateena, South Australia (60-minute flight from Adelaide / 30-minute flight from Port Augusta) on a 8 days on; 6 days off FIFO roster.

In this role you will:

  • Contribute to a strong safety culture based on transparent and open communication within the operating and metallurgy teams
  • Contribute to an environment of continuous improvement and innovation within the metallurgical team
  • Develop strong and productive working relationships with metallurgical, operational, and fixed plant maintenance teams at all levels
  • Design and implement operational improvement projects to increase plant safety, throughput, recovery and quality
  • Undertake process plant performance investigations and implementing improvement actions in consultation with the operations team, engineering and maintenance teams

Support the senior metallurgists in key activities such as:

  • Conduct pilot plants and test work programmes to support Carrapateena capital expansion programme
  • Facilitate plant surveys and subsequent work scopes
  • Coordinate of external test work programmes with partner and vendor laboratories
  • Coordinate of a safe and effective metallurgical laboratory

Where required assist:

  • Plant metallurgists in providing high quality and clear technical support to the operational teams and in undertaking metal accounting
  • Metallurgical technicians in operation, calibration and maintenance of Metso OSA and PSI online equipment
