Description Key Responsibilities · Perform surface observations, synoptic evaluations, and upper-air wind editing during launch operations · Analyze and edit wind speed and directional data in support of mission activities to ensure the highest quality of data is sent to the launch customer · Coordinate launch critical information to the launch customer · Analyze current weather conditions and create short-term forecasts to utilize for editing the upper level wind data · Support operational testing of meteorological instrumentation · Control and develop procedures and instructions for the Cape Weather Station · Inventory and purchase weather balloons, radiosondes and parachutes when required · Perform inventories and internal audits on government property · Perform internal quality audits · Complete assigned training and assist with the training of others to ensure optimal availability of qualified personnel for daily operations and launch support · Perform other duties as assigned Requirements Minimum Requirements: · BS degree in meteorology, atmospheric sciences, or related discipline · Two (2) years of weather forecasting experience in an operations environment · Thorough knowledge of upper air wind characteristics · MS Windows and MS Office experience · Red Hat Enterprise Linux experience, preferred · Experience working on the Eastern/Western Range or military meteorological systems, preferred · Good oral and written communication skills · Ability to work quickly and efficiently in high-stress environments · Ability to work well with minimal supervision · Ability to interface with all levels of personnel in a diverse, team-orientated environment · Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with employees and the public · Additional Eligibility Qualifications · Local travel required between Weather sites on Cape Canaveral Space Force Station · Possess visual acuity correctable to 20/20 · Ability to visually observe clouds · Ability to work outdoors in extreme conditions · The flexibility to work frequent non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements · Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship · Valid U.S. Driver’s License
