Description
The purpose of this position is to provide service for customers with the City of Concord by connecting, disconnecting, installing, replacing, and reading water and electric meters. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Connects, disconnects, installs, replaces, and reads water and electric meters. * Investigates reports of tampering, leaking, and broken meters and determines charges and/or damages to customer. * Schedules work load and dispatches work orders to other technicians. * Prepares and maintains a variety of records and/or logs related to daily activities, inventory, and/or other related items.    Supplemental Functions: * Performs other similar duties as required. Job Specifications and Qualifications:  Knowledge: * Customer service principles; * Recordkeeping principles; * Basic mathematical concepts; * Safe work practices; * City and county streets.   Licensing and Certifications: * Valid North Carolina Driver’s License; PLEASE NOTE: Applicants must meet the City criteria for an acceptable driving record.   Working Conditions / Physical Requirements: * Positions in this class require: standing, fine dexterity, walking, lifting, carrying, sitting, reaching, handling, kneeling, vision, foot controls, bending, crouching, hearing, twisting, talking. * Medium Work: Exerting 20 - 50 pounds occasionally, 10-25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly. * Incumbents may be subjected to extreme temperature, wetness and/or humidity, respiratory hazards, noise and vibration, physical hazards.
Responsibilities
The position involves connecting, disconnecting, installing, and reading water and electric meters for the City of Concord. Additionally, the technician investigates meter tampering and leaks while maintaining detailed activity and inventory logs.
