JOB SUMMARY
**The Minnesota Department of Transportation does not sponsor applicants for work visas or Optional Practical Training Extensions for STEM Students. Individuals must be legally authorized to work in the US at the start of employment.
This position is located at the Waters Edge Building in Roseville. The incumbent may have the flexibility to work in the office or a hybrid schedule. The incumbent will be required to report onsite at least once/month but may be required to work onsite more depending on business needs. If working a hybrid schedule, the incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor.
This position will lead and supervise Metro Design Staff in the development of transportation projects, routine through complex, from conception to construction. Under general administrative oversight this position assumes lead engineering responsibility for design processes throughout the project life cycle to include concept development, project scoping, preliminary and final design project activities, and construction design alterations as necessary. Design process responsibilities include quality assurance and quality control practices and procedures.
This position has district level responsibility for providing or accepting the following engineering products; alternative design concepts, design related scoping and project documents, authorizing project schedules for design related activities, staff approved preliminary layouts, and bid submittal packages (PS&E).
This position guides and mentors principal and senior design engineers/engineering specialists and are responsible for administrative activities to include direct and indirect supervision, project design resourcing, and staff augmentation with consultants.
This position must maintain effective working relationships with Metro Project Managers and Sponsors, MnDOT expert offices, Metro Functional Areas, Federal Highway Administration, and AASHTO/TRB technical task forces and committees as involved.
