How this role supports our mission:  The Metro/REC Youth Peer Outreach and Engagement Specialist will provide peer-to-peer outreach and linkages to supportive services to homeless youth age 12-24 associated with the HUD grant- ‘Goodwill’s Metro/REC Reengagement Project For Homeless Youth’ at Goodwill’s Metro/REC Youth Centers and in the community. This part time position will help coordinate outreach activities; service learning events; resource fairs; and support the development of a youth committee of 10-12 homeless youth to help support this project in leadership roles. The primary responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to conducting community outreach to potential service partners and participants; assisting the Community Engagement Coordinator with planning and hosting community resource and service learning events; and providing service referrals to participants.  THIS IS A PART-TIME POSITION What we require from you:  Special requirements:  Must be a youth age 18-24 Familiarity with at-risk, system-involved or homeless youth populations preferred Must successfully complete CPR and First Aid certifications within 90 days of employment and maintain  Establish and maintain a fingerprint clearance to provide services to youth Additional Requirements: Ability and willingness to perform all job tasks with a positive attitude.  Communicate in an honest, polite, and well-intentioned manner.  Do the right thing.  Support the Metro/REC Community Engagement Coordinator with recruiting 10-12 youth for a youth leadership committee to assist with program development and ongoing evaluation  Provide positive reinforcement for the youth’s progress, problem solve issues or concerns, and update the Metro/REC Community Engagement Coordinator with any updates or concerns Proactively identify and address potential problems and/or negative behaviors before they impact other participants Follow all GISA policies and procedures, including safety, at all times  As needed, participate in all required trainings provided by funding source, TPCH and GISA Serve as the representative of Goodwill Metro/REC in the community and engage in community outreach, resource development and networking activities in order to grow and marketing the program, including identifying potential partners or opportunities to reach additional youth Ability to work independently, flexibility with mobile working arrangements, willingness to travel between Metro/REC Youth Centers located on 4th Ave. (downtown) and Silverlake Road (in South Park/Pueblo Gardens), some nights and weekends required Ongoing collaboration and communication with TPCH youth action committee  Maintain a high level of confidentiality regarding Goodwill and persons receiving services Ability to work independently, with minimum supervision.  Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities and environments.  Ability to read, write, and speak English; follow written and verbal instruction.  Possess current AZ driver’s license, and personal transportation with proof of auto insurance. Criminal background screenings will be conducted on all eligible candidates.
