Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Knowledge and skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • US Customs Brokerage License Broker Mexico equivalent
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in Mexico Trade Compliance or customs experience
  • Minimum 2 years of Trade Compliance Import/Export supervisory experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience working in SAP GTS (preferred)
  • Experience with Mexico customs regulations
  • Knowledge in HTS Classification, Export Compliance and Foreign Trade Agreements
  • Experience in leading organizations within various areas of trade compliance
  • Experience in a business operations role
  • Experience working in a matrix environment or on a cross functional tea
Responsibilities
  • Interface across business & regional leadership while acting as an integral part of the business teams to ensure global trade compliance policies and procedures are aligned and integrated with business operations.
  • Implement trade compliance policies and procedures in accordance with the Trade Compliance COE, Mexican customs laws, regulations, and trade agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with import and export regulations, including tariff classifications, customs valuation, country of origin determinations, and trade documentation requirements.
  • Monitor changes in Mexican customs regulations and update internal processes and procedures accordingly to mitigate risks and ensure compliance.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to identify potential non-conformance and develop corrective action plans.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide guidance on trade compliance matters, including customs valuation, duty drawback, free trade agreements, and import/export licensing requirements.
  • Coordinate with logistics providers, customs brokers, and other external partners to ensure timely and accurate filing of import and export documents.
  • Lead internal training programs to educate employees on trade compliance requirements and best practices.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives to drive continuous improvement in trade compliance processes.
  • Maintain relationships with Mexican customs authorities and industry associations to stay informed about regulatory changes and advocate for the company’s interests.
