JOB SUMMARY AND QUALIFICATIONS

The Mental Health Technician (MHT) delivers high quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic patient care services related to behavioral health nursing functions and activities of daily living. Under the supervision of the registered nurse (RN), the MHT assists the nursing staff in providing patient care in accordance with the MHT’s skills/training and the needs of the Department, and consistently assists the patient care team with maintaining a clean, well-organized, and safe patient care environment. The MHT complies with all hospital policies/procedures and observes the State Board of Nursing rules for unlicensed personnel.

What you will do in this role:

  • You will actively participate in departmental PI, as assigned by Unit Director.
  • You will assume responsibility to maintain knowledge of and compliance with all current hospital and departmental policies.
  • You will demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety and related criteria, appropriate to the age of patients served in his/her assigned service area.?
  • You will demonstrate appropriate age related nursing skills. (Age of patient documentation is accurate, legible and effectively completed in a timely manner.

What qualifications you will need:

  • High School diploma or Associates Degree in related field.
  • BLS Certification required within 30 days of hire. (Facility provided)
  • Successful completion or CPI certification required within 30 days of hire. (Facility provided)
  • Previous mental health experience preferred.
  • One year hospital / nursing home experience, preferred.

Parkridge Medical Center is a 270+ bed hospital. We are near downtown Chattanooga. We feature comprehensive diagnostic, medical, and surgical services. These services include cardiovascular surgery and cancer treatment. These services include intensive care, orthopedic and spine surgery, and rehabilitation. The facility includes a state of the art neurosurgery program. Patients also have access to OB-GYN services. Patients have access to a level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. They also have access to (NICU) and behavioral health treatment centers for children and adults.
