Our Microbiology Laboratory in Blue Bell, PA plays a key role in supporting customer quality programs through fast turnaround testing, strong documentation practices, and expert technical support. Position Summary We are hiring a Microbiologist to support daily laboratory operations and microbiology testing services for regulated life sciences customers. This role is ideal for a hands-on microbiology professional who thrives in an organized lab environment, values strong cGMP / GDP compliance, and takes pride in delivering accurate results with reliable turnaround times. This is an in-person role in Blue Bell, PA, working as part of a high-performing team in a growing laboratory environment. Requirements Laboratory Operations & Sample Handling Support daily lab operations including sample receipt, labeling, documentation review, and workflow execution Maintain lab readiness through supply inventory support, stocking, and coordination of laboratory consumables Follow all internal SOPs and customer requirements to maintain compliance and audit readiness Support equipment readiness and lab organization, including incubators and controlled lab areas Microbiology Testing & Analysis Perform microbiological testing services such as: Biological Indicator (BI) Testing Microbial Enumeration (including plate-based methods and reporting) USP Water Testing support (as assigned, based on qualifications) Organism Identification using Bruker MALDI-TOF Subculture, Gram Staining, and isolate handling Growth Promotion Testing (GPT) and quality control testing support Support other microbial testing services based on customer needs and lab capability Incubation & Result Reporting Track sample incubation schedules and ensure proper handling throughout incubation lifecycle Read plates and interpret microbiological results accurately Complete reports and documentation in alignment with GDP, cGMP, and client expectations Communicate issues, deviations, and questionable results appropriately and in a timely manner Quality, Compliance, and Continuous Improvement Maintain strict adherence to Good Documentation Practices (GDP) and applicable quality requirements Support internal quality procedures including documentation review and corrective actions as needed Identify inefficiencies and propose practical process improvements to support scaling lab throughput Foster a culture of consistency, accountability, and continuous improvement Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, Chemistry, or related Life Sciences discipline 3+ years of microbiology laboratory experience (regulated industry strongly preferred) Working knowledge of GMP and GDP expectations, with strong documentation habits Experience performing microbiology testing such as enumeration, organism handling, and incubation workflows Proficiency with computers and lab documentation tools (Microsoft Office and email required) Comfortable working in a structured environment with high attention to detail and timelines Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and perform physical work including standing, bending, kneeling, and light equipment handling Valid driver’s license and ability to pass background and drug screening Preferred Qualifications Experience working in pharmaceutical, biotech, compounding pharmacy, cleanroom, or other regulated environments Familiarity with environmental monitoring concepts (classified areas, controlled spaces, trending, etc.) Hands-on experience with Bruker MALDI-TOF or similar microbial identification tools Experience supporting internal audits, customer audits, or inspection readiness What Success Looks Like in This Role Accurate, compliant test execution with minimal documentation errors Consistent turnaround time performance and predictable throughput Strong ownership of assigned workflows, incubation schedules, and reporting deliverables Clear communication and teamwork, especially during high-volume periods Proactive mindset toward lab organization, compliance, and continuous improvement
