ALTERNATE WEEKEND WORK ARRANGEMENT WITH TIME-OFF

ScaleUp Bio is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Microbiologist to join our team.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Receiving, storage and maintenance of strains;
  • Assisting with benchtop bioreactors set up and sampling;
  • Seed preparation for benchtop bioreactors inoculation;
  • Performing routine microbiological testing and analysis of raw materials, in process samples, environmental samples and final products;
  • Performing analytical testing including but not limited to moisture content, brix, sugar concentration (YSI), optical density, HPLC, dry/wet cell weight, protein concentration (Bradford Assay), enzyme activity etc.;
  • Maintaining, calibrating and troubleshooting laboratory equipment;
  • Documenting and reporting laboratory data;
  • Microbiological and analytical methods development;
  • Maintaining and improving laboratory clean environment;
  • Managing laboratory inventory and ensuring timely replenishment of consumables.
  • Work with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure the progress timeline in new product/process development;
  • Ensure safe working practice in pilot plant, and manufacturing facility to meet or exceed safety goals.

Your Profile:

  • Min Bachelor degree with 3+ years’ experience or equivalent in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemistry or related field.
  • Proficiency in biochemistry assays, including the Bradford Assay and Enzyme Activity Assay, is highly valued. Experience with High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) is also considered a significant advantage.
  • Strong communication and organization skills, be able to multi-task and exhibit a strong sense of urgency in order to accomplish daily tasks.
  • Be self-motivated with the ability to manage time and priorities; must be able to work independently in a team environment.
  • Positive, can-do attitude, and approach challenges with a proactive mindset.
