Job Description The Microbiology Operations Lead plays a pivotal role in ensuring smooth day-to-day laboratory operations while guiding and developing a high-performing microbiology team. This position blends technical oversight with people leadership, driving workflow efficiency, regulatory compliance, and staff development. Key Responsibilities Operations & Workflow Lead daily microbiology lab operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery of results. Manage staff scheduling, task assignments, and resource utilization. Monitor performance metrics and implement workflow improvements using Lean principles. Coordinate maintenance, calibration, and utilization of laboratory equipment. Oversee investigations, reports, and environmental monitoring activities. Leadership & Team Development Supervise and mentor microbiology staff and group leaders, fostering growth and accountability. Lead onboarding, training, and cross-training initiatives to maintain a skilled, flexible team. Provide coaching, feedback, and support to enhance team engagement and productivity. Foster a collaborative team culture aligned with Eurofins’ values. Quality & Compliance Ensure compliance with GMP, SOPs, and safety requirements. Review and verify laboratory data for accuracy and completeness. Manage acceptance testing of culture media and microbial identification procedures as needed. Support audits, client interactions, and continuous readiness initiatives. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Life Sciences, Engineering, or a related field. 3+ years of leadership experience in a technical or laboratory setting. 3+ years of hands-on microbiology laboratory experience; GMP experience preferred. Strong track record of managing operations, optimizing workflows, and maintaining compliance. Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to coach and motivate teams. Must be authorized to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship.
