Job Description
AECOM is seeking a mid-level Archaeology Technician III for immediate employment. This remote opportunity will report to our Portland and or/ Chico, CA offices. This is a part-time, on-call position meaning workdays and times will be determined on an as-needed project basis.
The Archaeological Technician primarily performs fieldwork under the supervision of a Crew Chief, Field Director and/or Principal Investigator. Field projects will primarily be located in the PNW (Oregon and Washington State). Candidates will need flexibility to travel overnight for field work sessions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School graduate plus 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in archaeological fieldwork.
  • Valid Driver’s License with a good driving record as travel will be required for this role.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience with a wide range of field methodologies, including archaeological survey, testing, excavation, and monitoring.
  • Completion of an archaeological field school is high desired.
  • Experience with Geospatial technology including GPS and GIS.
  • Computer proficiency including familiarity with Microsoft Office.
Responsibilities
  • Performs a variety of tasks in support of project staff.
  • May gather and maintain specified records of scientific data for supervisor, including but not limited to environmental sampling, operations and maintenance and inspections at client sites.
  • Other activities may include assisting with calculations, setting up and operating equipment, inspecting equipment and installations for compliance with specifications and maintaining proper project documentation.
  • Collects and enters data and applies technical principles and theories under supervision.
