These include wind tunnels (for aerospace, automotive, and motorsports), rocket test stands, climatic chambers, jet engine test cells, acoustic chambers, altitude test facilities, captive trajectory systems, and nuclear facilities.
Our client’s work spans across key industries such as automotive, motorsports, defense, nuclear, and aerospace. Notable clients include Audi, Boeing, BMW, Fiat Chrysler, Ford, Honda, General Motors, NASA, the U.S. Air Force, the U.S. Navy, the U.S. Department of Energy, Volkswagen, confidential F1 motorsports clients, and others throughout North America, Europe, and Asia.
We are currently seeking a Mid-Level Controls & Instrumentation Engineer to join our team. This role will support a range of projects—from small-scale studies to complex, multi-million dollar turn-key solutions.
The ideal candidate will be team-oriented, highly organized, and an effective communicator at all levels of the organization. They must also thrive in a fast-paced environment and consistently meet deadlines.
This is a unique opportunity to work on exciting and technically challenging projects, supported by a team of motivated engineering and business professionals. You’ll play a key role in ensuring client satisfaction and delivering successful projects on time, within scope, and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Design hardware assemblies and wiring diagrams for control and data acquisition systems
  • Develop control system software to manage variables such as temperature, pressure, humidity, flow, force, motion, and system safety
  • Program control systems using PLC ladder logic, function block diagrams, and HMI interfaces
  • Integrate facility equipment using hardwired connections and industrial communication networks
  • Apply both classical and modern closed-loop control methods to continuously variable systems
  • Ensure quality by reviewing others’ work, adhering to procedures, and maintaining compliance with relevant codes and standards
  • Support hardware assembly and fabrication activities
  • Lead on-site teams during facility startup, system checkout, and commissioning efforts—both domestic and international
  • Communicate project status effectively with clients and management
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and departments to achieve project success
  • Estimate costs for design, materials, installation, testing, and system activation
  • Plan labor resources and schedule project milestones to meet technical, budgetary, and timeline goals
  • Contribute to proposal development to secure future work and expand into new markets
  • Lead control and data acquisition projects through all phases—design, fabrication, implementation, testing, and commissioning

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Mechatronics, or Computer Engineering from an ABET-accredited program
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the design, implementation, and commissioning of control or data acquisition systems
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration is a plus
  • Proficient in high-level programming languages such as C, C++, or C#, or experienced with engineering tools like LabVIEW, MATLAB, and SIMULINK/SIMSCAPE
  • Skilled in PLC and HMI development within at least one major platform (e.g., Rockwell Studio 5000, Siemens TIA Portal, Emerson PAC Machine Edition), with working knowledge of others
  • Experience in selecting, specifying, and procuring process instrumentation, actuation hardware, PLCs, motion control systems, automation networks, and related hardware
  • Strong mathematics foundation for tasks such as uncertainty analysis, digital filter design, control transfer functions, and process simulations
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and deliver technically sound, often one-of-a-kind, control and data systems
  • Committed to mentoring junior engineers and fostering a collaborative team environment
  • Creative mindset with a passion for developing innovative solutions and driving improvements across all project phases
  • US Citizenship is required
