Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Mid-Level Environmental Scientist to join our EHS Department in either our Cincinnati, OH or Minneapolis, MN offices. The successful candidate will be part of a diverse team of engineers and scientists that are responsible for EHS compliance, reporting, permitting, and environmental field sampling/monitoring. The successful candidate will have enough experience to be able to independently conduct field work and prepare the associated reports for a wide variety of national / international private and public sector clients across the United States.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering, or relevant environmental discipline.
  • 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education in environmental compliance experience.
  • Ability to local, regional and out-of-state travel approximately 1-2 weeks per month to conduct environmental compliance audits and various assessments.
  • Valid U.S driver’s license is required for this role.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 6+ years of environmental compliance experience.
  • Previous consulting and project management experience is highly desired.
  • Experience with Phase I Environmental Site Assessments/due diligence.
  • Experience with Health & Safety regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
  • Successfully execute environmental permitting and compliance projects while meeting cost, schedule, safety, and quality objectives
  • Execute projects involving SPCC, stormwater, NPDES, hazardous waste, hazardous materials, EMS, air quality and other environmental regulatory compliance services including regulatory research, compliance planning and auditing, creating spreadsheets, and compiling and writing reports and other documents
  • Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state, and federal regulations. Draft corrective actions to prevent incident reoccurrences
  • Create and submit state and federal environmental reports
  • Provide recommendations and develop innovative solutions to compliance issues
  • Conduct environmental due diligence assessments (Phase I and II)
  • Collaborate with project teams to develop work programs designed to provide innovative and progressive project solutions for compliance issues
  • Regular travel is required to client sites as necessary
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients to enhance client retention and growth
  • Familiarity with project management, including preparation of scope and cost estimates, financial and budgetary management, resource allocation and scheduling, health and safety management and engagement of subcontractors
  • Effective verbal and written communication, liaison and management of clients, regulatory agencies, subcontractors, vendors, and analytical laboratories
