Overview MID-LEVEL INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ACTION OFFICER LOCATION: Eglin AFB, FL JOB STATUS: Full-time CLEARANCE: Secret TRAVEL: None Astrion has an exciting opportunity for a MID-LEVEL INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ACTION OFFICER for the Tenants Contract, supporting the Air Force Division at the Air Force Research Laboratory Munitions Directorate’s Integration and Operations Division (AFRL/RWOC) at EGLIN AFB, FL. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS Bachelor’s or Master’s degree or equivalent experience 3-10 years’ relevant experience Active Secret Clearance (US Citizenship required) Prior USAF Leadership experience in the roles like Assistant Director of Operations (ADO), Senior NCO leadership positions, or jobs at the group or wing level. Strong understanding of core IT principles, including network infrastructure, systems administration, cybersecurity fundamentals, and cloud computing concepts. Understand the principles of IT project management, including planning, execution, and closure. Previous experience within the Department of War or U.S. Air Force environments is a significant benefit. This indicates familiarity with relevant security protocols, operational procedures, and organizational culture. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel and Microsoft SharePoint, expert attention-to-detail & highly organized. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of AF instructions and operations. Demonstrated ability to recognize and analyze problems, conduct research, summarize results, and make appropriate recommendations. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS Previous experience within the Department of War or U.S. Air Force environments is a significant benefit. This indicates familiarity with relevant security protocols, operational procedures, and organizational culture. Experience with Agile or other project management methodologies is a significant asset. Professional military education such as Air Command and Staff College or Senior NCO Academy is desired. RESPONSIBILITIES Serve as the principal aide and technical advisor to the Information Technology (IT) Branch Chief, functioning as a force multiplier to ensure the seamless alignment of strategic objectives with daily operational execution. This role requires a unique blend of high-level technical acumen, strategic coordination, and administrative excellence to manage the tempo and efficiency of the branch. Provide direct support to the IT Operations Branch Chief and Technical Advisor as needed, assisting with special projects, task management, and strategic initiatives to ensure leadership's objectives are met. Act as a primary point of contact for the Branch Chief, providing analysis and recommendations on operational matters, emerging technologies, and strategic initiatives. Translate complex technical data from operational teams into clear, concise reports, summaries, and executive-level briefings for leadership. Collaborate closely with the Technical Advisor to evaluate emerging technologies, providing operational insights and hands-on assistance in the assessment of their potential impact and integration feasibility. Prepare and refine technical documentation, formal responses, and presentations on behalf of the Branch Chief. Receive, analyze, and manage incoming taskers from higher leadership, ensuring they are properly assigned to the appropriate section, tracked, and completed on schedule. Serve as the central point of coordination between the Branch Chief and Section Chiefs, facilitating collaboration on cross-functional projects, de-conflicting resources, and monitoring progress against established milestones. Maintain a comprehensive view of all ongoing projects and operational activities within the branch, providing regular status updates to the Chief and proactively identifying potential risks or delays. Assist the Branch Chief in overseeing daily IT operations, helping to prioritize tasks, manage workflows, and ensure operational readiness and stability. Manage the Branch Chief’s calendar for strategic engagements, schedule key meetings with internal and external stakeholders, and prepare all necessary read-ahead materials. Streamline administrative processes within the branch, including managing information flow, organizing branch-level documentation, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
