We are seeking to hire a Mid-Level Materials and Process Engineer (Composites) to join our team in Tukwila, WA. We are looking for a candidate who will provide guidance to multiple programs on adhesives and structural bonding.
The ideal candidate has experience with bonding systems, chemical processing, polymer chemistry, engineering requirements, and process control. A strong foundation in chemistry and knowledge of chemical processes is essential.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry
  • 3+ years of experience in materials, manufacturing processes, failure analysis, or related roles
  • Experience with chemical processes
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical testing, microstructure analysis (optical microscopy, SEM/EDS), and interpretation of results

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science & Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering
  • Strong understanding of material families (especially bonding systems, chemical processes, and polymer chemistry) and common manufacturing/joining processes
  • Experience writing technical specifications, process documents, and test plans
  • Proficiency with statistical tools and process capability analysis (SPC, Minitab/JMP or equivalent)
  • Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and suppliers
  • Proven leadership and/or teaching capability

Responsibilities
  • Defines requirements and approves tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes used in the engineering design, manufacture and/or maintenance of products.
  • Produces specifications and other documents to manage the deployment of tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes.
  • Maintains compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations.
  • Promotes standardization across business activities.
  • Evaluates emerging technologies for potential application to business needs.
  • Develops and qualifies new tools, equipment, materials, parts and processes to meet requirements. Integrates new technologies as appropriate.
  • Manages test and audit programs to qualify suppliers to applicable requirements.
  • Conducts analysis to characterize performance or determine reasons for failure of tools, materials, parts or processes.
  • Implements corrective and preventive actions.
  • Designs, develops and qualifies computer and production systems to satisfy user requirements.
  • Uses project management tools to meet cost, technical, and schedule requirements.
  • Incorporates environmental health and safety, LEAN and Quality principles into (1) materials and processes, (2) research, design and qualification, (3) work procedures and (4) labs and office areas.
