Description The Middle and High School English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher is responsible for delivering dynamic, engaging, and standards-aligned instruction in reading, writing, and literature. The teacher will promote critical thinking, creativity, and effective communication skills while fostering a love for language and literature among students. The ideal candidate will create a structured yet motivating classroom environment that encourages inquiry, collaboration, and academic achievement. Plan and deliver interactive lessons in reading comprehension, literary analysis, writing skills, and language conventions. Prepare students for advanced coursework and assessments, including AP English Language and Composition and AP English Literature and Composition (if applicable). Develop lesson plans aligned with state standards and/or College Board frameworks. Integrate a diverse range of literary texts, covering various genres and cultural perspectives. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners and promote inclusive practices. Utilize formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress and inform instruction. Incorporate technology and multimedia resources to enhance learning and engagement. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field (Master’s preferred). Valid state teaching certification (preferred). Experience teaching middle and high school English Language Arts (including literature and writing). Experience preparing students for AP English exams (preferred). Strong content knowledge in literary theory, composition, and grammar. Exceptional ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and effectively. Strong classroom management skills. Proficiency with educational technology and online learning platforms. Strong communication and organizational skills. AP English certification or College Board training is a plus. Experience with differentiated instruction and supporting diverse learners is preferred.
