Description Saint Albert Catholic, a co-educational, child care center to high school located in Council Bluffs, Iowa, seeks a full-time middle-high school social studies teacher for the 2026-27 school year who is passionate about advancing the mission of Catholic education. In partnership with our parishes, Saint Albert Catholic will inspire our students to fulfill their spiritual, academic, moral, and physical potential by following the teachings of the Catholic Church. Summary of Position: This position is perfectly suited for the teacher who is passionate about the area of social studies and desires to further our students in their learning journey, helping them to reach their potential in a Catholic school environment. The candidate must have solid knowledge of the four main branches of the social studies curriculum (history, geography, civics and government, and economics). Our social studies teachers are responsible for assisting students in the formation utilizing a comprehensive social studies curriculum. They accomplish this by creating engaging, challenging, and innovative lesson plans that encourage students to seek, explore, and expand their knowledge using a multi-faceted approach, including in-depth classroom discussions and activities, research, and presentations on a multitude of social studies topics. Saint Albert Catholic expects and encourages teacher collaboration through the sharing of teaching strategies, resources, and ideas that will lead to successful student outcomes. Teachers must have a willingness to be an active participant in the larger school community to continue our positive school culture, which can have a lasting impact on students. Essential Functions: Develop and deliver instruction strategies that align with the Iowa Core and engage students in active and positive learning that is appropriate for the students’ grade level (both middle and high school). Ability to develop a rapport with students to build trust and encourage their progress, a classroom environment where students feel safe and comfortable taking risks and questioning to seek understanding. Promote student achievement by effectively managing a classroom of diverse learners that fosters an environment both inviting and accepting to the student. Possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively communicate with students, parents, and colleagues. Maintain open lines of communication with parents/guardians, informing them of their child’s progress and addressing any concerns they may have. Requirements Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in education from an accredited college or university. Must have an active Iowa Teaching Licensure with proper endorsements or have this in place by August 2026. Minimum of 1-2 years teaching experience in middle or high school classroom (Preferred). Demonstrated success in designing and implementing engaging, standards-based lesson plans. Excellent communication (written & verbal), organizational, and time-management skills.
