We are pleased to announce an incredible opportunity to join us here at Phoenix Group as a Public Markets Credit Associate to join our Middle Office team, part of the Asset Management function. This role would suit someone who has some experience in the Asset Management / Investment Banking / Financial Services industry, who is looking to develop their knowledge and experience in investments. Training and development will be provided in role.

Location: This role will be based in either our London or Edinburgh office, offering flexible and hybrid working with 3 days spent in the office (minimum), and the rest working from home. There may be some infrequent travel between our Phoenix offices.

EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE

Responsibilities

THE ROLE

Reporting directly to the Public Markets Credit Team Leader, the role involves the daily oversight and support of our direct investments, ensuring trades are confirmed and settled within the expected timeframes. The team also support externally managed funds across the Shareholder and With Profits businesses. We provide dedicated product support for the various front office functions, including the Public and Macro Markets credit teams on trade execution and post trade lifecycle activities. Additionally, supporting Portfolio Implementation, ALM (Asset Liability Management) and Manager Oversight on a day-to-day basis, providing key operational input and guidance. We have also recently taken over responsibility for transitions including BPAs and in-specie trades.
A key focus of the role will be to ensure accurate and timely capture and reporting of investments through internal systems requiring coordination of activities amongst internal functions and key outsourced service providers (see below). In particular, the role will require continued build out and support in overseeing services provided by BlackRock Solutions via the Aladdin suite of products.
The role will also span to focus on process improvement and operating model enhancements to achieve industry leading systems and controls across asset and fund classes. Concentration required in implementing and documenting processes enhancing the control framework within Middle Office.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support Middle Office & Trade Life Cycle activities across multiple assets classes
  • Oversight of our direct investments daily trading dashboard via the BlackRock Aladdin trading platform
  • Review of post trade investment activities amongst internal functions and external parties, such as; External Portfolio Managers, HSBC Security Services (TPA), JPMorgan Chase, HSBC, and BlackRock Solutions
  • Support trade capture into internal reporting systems (InVista and Blackrock Aladdin) and downstream feed to Third Party Administrators (TPA) and Risk systems
  • Develop an understanding of key functional processes and controls in line with internal policies, good market practice, and regulatory guidelines, in a timely and organised manner
