Jupiter Christian School  Middle School Bible Teacher  Job Description    Mission:  Jupiter Christian School is committed to excellence in teaching the mind, reaching the heart, and inspiring servant leaders to impact the world for Jesus Christ.    Distinctives:  Jupiter Christian School educates students in a Nurturing Community to Excel in life and Engage the world.    Job Summary:  The Jupiter Christian School Teacher must be a spiritually sensitive individual who understands the mission and philosophy of Jupiter Christian School and is committed to help see it become a reality in the lives of our students by manifesting, by precept and example, the highest Christian virtue and personal decorum, serving as a Christian role model (I Timothy 4:12) both in and out of school (Luke 6:40), and as an example to parents and fellow employees in judgement, dignity, respect, and Christian living according to the Conditions of Employment outlined in the JCS Faculty Contract.  The teacher must be a born again Christian with spiritual maturity in academic and leadership abilities that will enable him/her to teach God’s truth.  The ability to communicate well with various types of people, handle confidential information appropriately, maintain a courteous, professional, and respectful attitude and integrity in all situations are pre-requisites.      General Description of Duties and Responsibilities  Teach MS Bible courses and biblically related subjects to students from 6th – 8th grades including but not limited to the Old & New Testament, Life of Christ, and Christian Life & Thought.    Essential Job Requirements  Establishes and maintains a positive classroom environment conducive to learning including being sensitive and responsive to spiritual, academic, emotional, social and physical needs and growth of student.  Teaches content and skills in Bible utilizing course of study adopted by Jupiter     Christian School.  Determines instructional materials designed to achieve instructional goals and behavioral objectives. Selects books and instructional aids appropriate to the interest and maturity level of middle school students.  Respectfully submits and is loyal to God-appointed authority.  Integrates a biblical worldview.  Functions as a learning catalyst, allowing the student to become the focal point in the classroom.  Follows and updates the JCS curriculum guides in implementing the instructional program.  Differentiates learning activities and instruction that meets the needs of the students in the class by designing authentic, learner-driven activities and environments that recognize and accommodate learner variability.  Assesses student’s performance and plans instructional strategies to help the student.  Demonstrates tech proficiency for both productivity and innovation (e.g. Office 365 suite)  Integrates technology and innovative teaching practices through commitment to being both a learner and a leader by identifying, exploring, evaluating and adopting new digital resources and tools for learning.  Implements project and problem-based learning.   Develops positive working relationships with students, parents and fellow staff members.  Works cooperatively with teaching team and dedicates time to collaborate with colleagues and co-learn with students to create authentic learning experiences that leverage technology.  Maintains accurate records and inventory for classroom and department needs (eg. textbooks, supplies, curriculum resources)  Attends all meetings, trainings, and duties before or after school that are scheduled by the administration or department head.  Attends select evening activities as scheduled by administration (e.g. Curriculum Night, Open House, and Parent Conferences)  Serves as a chaperone or advisor for the following events and activities: REACH, retreats, house battles, house celebrations, academic and grade level field trips, etc.  Serves on school committee(s) as requested.  Serves in a “Plus-One” role. JCS “Plus One” principle - JCS expects all faculty members to sponsor a Plus-One. A JCS Plus-One is defined as a non-leadership, paid or unpaid role which primarily seeks to provide co-curricular or extra-curricular student opportunities with teacher planning, supervision, and implementation at least once a year.      Qualifications  Spiritual  Must have a clear testimony of personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior  Please check the school's website (www.jupiterchristian.org) regarding personal faith alignment to the JCS statement of Faith  Must be able to demonstrate active membership and involvement in a local church  Education  Required: Bachelor’s degree in Religious Studies, Biblical Education, or similar program    Preferred: Masters from accredited seminary  Experience  Relevant and rich teaching experiences desired  Ability to coach athletic teams or lead co-curricular activities is desired  All faculty members are expected to participate as either leaders or sponsors of at least one co-curricular activity (Plus-1).
