Holy Spirit Catholic School is seeking an English Language Arts teacher to join our Middle School team. The ideal candidate is a strong reader and writer who understands adolescent development and creates a supportive, structured classroom environment that promotes academic growth and character development. The Middle School ELA teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-based instruction in reading, writing, speaking, listening, and language to students in grades 6–8. The teacher fosters a love of literature and writing while developing students’ critical thinking, analytical skills, and effective communication. Primary Responsibilities: Instruction & Curriculum Plan and deliver rigorous, TEKS-aligned lessons in reading comprehension, literary analysis, writing, grammar, vocabulary, and research skills. Teach a variety of diverse literary and informational texts, including novels, short stories, poetry, drama, nonfiction, and multimedia sources. Develop students’ writing across genres (narrative, argumentative, expository, and research-based writing). Integrate grammar and composition instruction within authentic reading and writing tasks. Use formative and summative assessments to guide instruction and provide timely feedback. Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse academic, linguistic, and developmental needs of middle school learners. Establish and maintain a structured, respectful classroom culture conducive to learning. Integrate educational technology to enhance instruction and student engagement. Professional Responsibilities Collaborate with colleagues to ensure vertical alignment and interdisciplinary connections. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives. Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and lesson plans. Uphold school policies and contribute positively to the school community.\ Willingness to attend ongoing professional development and specialized training. Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Minimum Qualifications: Education Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred). Valid state teaching certification for grades 6–8 ELA. Strong knowledge of grammar, composition, and literary analysis. Effective classroom management and organizational skills.
