Job Summary: The Jupiter Christian School Teacher must be a spiritually sensitive individual  who understands the mission and philosophy of Jupiter Christian School and is committed to  help see it become a reality in the lives of our students by manifesting, by precept and example,  the highest Christian virtue and personal decorum, serving as a Christian role model (I Timothy  4:12) both in and out of school (Luke 6:40), and as an example to parents and fellow employees  in judgement, dignity, respect, and Christian living according to the Conditions of Employment  outlined in the JCS Faculty Contract. The teacher must be a born-again Christian with spiritual  maturity in academic and leadership abilities that will enable him/her to teach God’s truth. The  ability to communicate well with various types of people, handle confidential information  appropriately, maintain a courteous, professional, and respectful attitude and integrity in all  situations are pre-requisites. I. General Description of Duties and Responsibilities a. Teaches Middle School Language Arts and one section of Bible as a member of  the middle school teaching team. The teacher implements the school curriculum; aligns teaching and learning to B.E.S.T. ELA standards, seeks opportunities for  project/problem-based learning with an emphasis on STE(A)M principles, documents teaching and learning progress/activities/outcomes; develops lesson  plans, models the necessary skills to perform assignments, provides a safe and  positive learning environment; and provides feedback to students, parents, and  administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals etc. II. Essential Job Requirements a. Establishes and maintains a positive classroom environment conducive to  learning. This includes spiritual, academic, emotional, social and physical growth  and maturity. b. Integrates a biblical worldview. c. Functions as a learning catalyst, allowing the student to become the focal point in  the classroom. d. Follows and updates the JCS curriculum guides in implementing the instructional  program. e. Differentiates learning activities and instruction that meets the needs of the  students in the class by designing authentic, learner-driven activities and  environments that recognize and accommodate learner variability. f. JCS “Plus One” principle - JCS expects all faculty  members to sponsor a Plus-One. A JCS Plus-One is defined as a non-leadership,  paid or unpaid role which primarily seeks to provide co-curricular or extra curricular student opportunities with teacher planning, supervision, and  implementation at least once a year. III. Qualifications a. Spiritual i. Must have a clear testimony of personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior ii. Must be able to demonstrate active membership and involvement in an  evangelical local church b. Education i. Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary, Middle Grades Language  Arts Education ii. Preferred: Master’s Degree in Education c. Experience i. Preferred: Minimum of five years of teaching experience
