Columbus School for Girls seeks to hire an energetic and creative Middle School Librarian - Long Term Substitute to cover a maternity leave beginning in December 2025. Major Functions and Responsibilities: Promote a love of reading and learning in all students Collaborate with classroom teachers and specialists to design and implement lessons and units of instruction that empower students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skillful researchers, and ethical users of information Participate actively in the life of the school, including leading clubs and/or activities, chaperoning school trips, and possibly coaching Work with faculty to effectively integrate technology into the curriculum, including co-teaching as needed. Evaluate, promote, and use existing and emerging technologies to support teaching and learning. Manage library outreach efforts, including visiting authors, book clubs, and partnerships with other libraries and agencies. Experience, Characteristics, Qualities: Minimum of Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree preferred Strong candidates will possess an MLIS or similar degree/certification and experience in independent schools and/or libraries An understanding of the value of an all-girls education and the eagerness to learn about the best ways to help young women of promise reach their full potential as learners and leaders Excellent communication skills, a genuine appreciation of adolescents, a sense of humor, and the ability to work well within a diverse, collaborative environment Familiarity with current Young Adult (YA) and middle grade literature Experience with technology integration that supports teaching and learning as well as social media experience Interested candidates should apply on the Career page of our website at: https://www.columbusschoolforgirls.org/about/careers and submit a cover letter outlining their interest in and qualifications for this specific position including a resume.
