URBAN SQUASH TORONTO

Urban Squash Toronto is a charitable organization that combines an intensive after-school, 6 days-a-week, yearlong education program with concentrated athletics (principally squash). We support underserved youth in the Jane-Finch corridor to reach their full academic, athletic and personal potential. We are looking for a passionate and committed individual to join our team as a Part-Time Math & ScienceTutor for Middle School (Grades 6-8).
If you are excited about making a difference in students’ lives, especially through one-on-one tutoring, and have a strong background in Math and Science, we want to hear from you! This role provides the opportunity to work with motivated students and help them succeed academically.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University degree in Math or/and Science, or related fields
  • B.Ed. (or pending) is an asset
  • Previous teaching or tutoring experience with youth
  • Strong proficiency in high school (Grade 6-8) Science and Math subjects
  • Fluent English communication skills
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum one day per week ( Tuesday and Wednesday from 4-5:30pm)
  • Availability for in-person tutoring at Urban Squash Toronto

Responsibilities
  • Provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to high school students in Math and Science (grades 6-8)
  • Tailor lessons to meet each student’s individual needs and academic goals
  • Track and report on student progress, offering regular updates to families and Urban Squash Toronto staff
  • Foster a positive, motivating, and engaging learning environment
  • Work collaboratively with students to build their confidence and academic skills
  • Support students in developing effective study habits and problem-solving strategies
