Roles & Responsibilities

ABA seeks an outstanding, student-centred pedagogical leader with strong

experience and current knowledge of the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP).

The successful candidate will have senior leadership experience in an

international school context and a deep understanding of the academic, social

and emotional needs of young adolescents.

The Middle School Principal is a member of the School’s Senior Leadership

Team (SLT), with responsibility for leading the Middle School and contributing to

whole-school strategy and improvement.

A deep understanding of adolescent learning and development, and the IB

Middle Years Programme.

A strong commitment to the philosophy of the IB and to ensuring that the

foundations for high-quality student learning are firmly in place.

A student-centred and learning-centred approach to leadership and

decision-making.

Experience in developing curriculum and improving the quality of learning

and teaching.

The ability to think strategically and lead effective planning for continuous

school improvement.

Experience of working in a highly effective and successful school

environment.

Strong organisational and operational leadership, including responsibility

for staffing, admissions, budgets and resources.

Experience in recruiting, developing and retaining highly effective educators.

Experience in building leadership capacity through distributed leadership.

The ability to inspire others, build positive relationships and create a strong

sense of shared purpose.

A commitment to creating a culture of trust and respect in which all

members of the school community feel valued.

Acts with integrity and communicates effectively with stakeholders from

diverse backgrounds.

A passion for education and for working closely with teachers and students.
