QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Master’s degree with valid Indiana Administrator’s license or eligible to receive an Indiana Administrator’s license or permit.
Experience: Two (2) or more years of teaching experience at the appropriate level.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the achievement of the short and long-term educational goals of the school corporation.
  • Serve as the instructional leader of the building.
  • Assume responsibility for the attendance, conduct, and health of students.
  • Assume responsibility for the implementation and observance of all Board of School Trustees policies and regulations by the school’s staff and students.
  • Direct school improvement and provide staff regular and ongoing feedback on benchmarks for progress.
  • Serve as a resource person for teachers, other administrators, non-certificated personnel, and the community.
  • Monitor classroom instruction.
  • Encourage professional growth of teachers by planning and arranging in-service workshops and informing teachers of opportunities through participation in conferences and workshops.
  • Evaluate personnel and make recommendations for assignment, transfer, promotion, and dismissal of personnel assigned to the school.
  • Assume responsibility for the care and administration of the school facility.
  • Develop and structure school time to provide for the efficient conduct of instruction and school business.
  • Plan and supervise fire drills and an emergency preparedness program.
  • Act as a liaison between the school and the community, interpreting activities and policies of the school and encouraging community participation in school life.
  • Supervise the preparation of all school reports for the Director of Public Education’s office.
  • Direct the management and preparation of the school budget.
  • Supervise the maintenance of accurate records of progress and attendance of students.
  • Create a school atmosphere that encourages parent involvement, staff collegiality and professionalism.
  • Arrange for special conferences between parents and teachers.
  • Delegate authority for supervision of the school in the absence of the Principal.
  • Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Secondary Education.
  • Serve on corporation wide committees as may be assigned by the Director of Public Education.
