POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Middle School Social Studies Teacher to join our team at Matchbook Learning at Wendell Phillips for the 2025–2026 school year. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm for history, civics, and geography while creating an inclusive and dynamic learning environment that challenges students to think critically, engage in current events, and understand the world around them.

Responsibilities
  • Instruction and Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver daily lessons that align with state standards. Incorporate varied teaching strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of all students.

  • Classroom Management: Create and maintain a positive and structured classroom environment conducive to learning. Use effective classroom management techniques to ensure a respectful and focused atmosphere.

  • Assessment and Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess student progress through formal and informal assessments, track individual student growth, and adjust instruction as needed. Provide feedback to students and parents on academic progress.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work collaboratively with fellow teachers, specialists, and administrators to ensure that students are supported in all areas of their development. Maintain open communication with parents through conferences, ParentSquare, and other forms of communication.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in education. Attend faculty meetings, workshops, and school events to contribute to the school’s mission and culture.
  • Student Support: Provide individualized or small-group instruction to students who need extra help. Differentiate instruction to meet the varied needs of students, including those with learning challenges or advanced abilities.
