POSITION OVERVIEW

Oak Meadow School seeks a passionate and creative Middle School Teacher with expertise in Project-Based Learning (PBL) to inspire and guide adolescents in grades 7–8. The ideal candidate believes that students learn best by doing, and is committed to designing interdisciplinary projects that connect academic skills with real-world challenges. This educator will nurture a classroom culture that promotes inquiry, collaboration, independence, and responsibility, in alignment with Montessori values and adolescent development.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with Project-Based Learning design and facilitation.
  • Middle school teaching experience (grades 6–8 preferred).
  • Strong classroom management skills rooted in respect, responsibility, and relationship-building.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction to support a range of learners.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in education.
Responsibilities
  • In collaboration, design and implement rigorous, engaging, project-based units that integrate core subjects (humanities, math, science, and beyond).
  • Facilitate a student-centered classroom where learners take ownership of their projects, from inquiry and research to presentation and reflection.
  • Support the development of essential skills, including critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and self-management.
  • Provide academic guidance, feedback, and differentiated instruction to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Connect classroom projects to real-world contexts, local community resources, and global issues.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure interdisciplinary alignment and holistic support for students.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians through conferences, reports, and updates on student progress.
  • Participate in professional development and actively contribute to the school community, including field studies, service learning, and school events.
