SUMMARY

Spire Midstream is seeking an Engineer, Midstream Storage to join its midstream engineering team. The Engineer, Midstream Storage will be the technical resource support for matters related to wellhead design and maintenance, well workover activities, and downhole equipment maintenance at our underground natural gas storage facilities. This role is focused on assisting with reservoir surveillance, observation and injection/withdrawal well performance and troubleshooting, managing related well work budgets, and supervising supporting consultants and service providers, and identifying enhancement and improvement opportunities for the facility’s storage operations. In addition, this position will work closely with the Midstream Operations teams and Midstream project teams to support major projects and/or lead projects required by operations. This position reports to the Director, Midstream Engineering.

REQUIRED EDUCATION (CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering discipline (e.g., Petroleum, Chemical, Mechanical)
  • Minimum Experience Required: Minimum of 5 years’ experience in designing and executing well workovers and other production engineering functions
  • Home base work location: Houston, TX

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITIES

  • Solid understanding of all aspects of the physical gas value chain (i.e., Upstream, Midstream, and Downstream)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 Application Suite
  • Strong knowledge of well safety protocols and safety study applications
  • Familiarity with API and PHMSA recommended practices
  • Generating well workover procedures, materials selection, equipment lists, equipment sizing, and leading or conducting well work services
  • Cross office coordination with high value engineering centers
  • Typical production engineering calculations such as wellbore hydraulics, inflow performance curves, well log interpretation, etc.
  • Knowledge of gas industry regulatory process at both state and federal levels

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



    • Assist in the monitoring and troubleshooting of well operations to optimize efficiency

    • Support the development and execution of reservoir/well/surface network simulations to investigate system responses and support diagnostics
    • Help in proposing design solutions and performance test requirements to enhance production or solve well-related incidents
    • Participate in the development and use of process surveillance tools that improve production efficiency and provide production optimization
    • Assist in preliminary cost estimates and schedules for capital and facility upgrade projects
    • Participate in Process Hazards Analysis (PHA) and Hazard and Operability Reviews (HAZOP) under supervision to ensure safety in design and operations
    • Support with the Management of Change (MOC) process
    • Support Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) process
    • Support development and tracking of appropriate Key Performance Indicators
    • Provide day-to-day troubleshooting support to Operations teams
    • Contribute to ensuring engineering and operations requirements are considered in ongoing plant operations, major projects and turnaround activities
    • Manage the work of outside consultants performing well work related functions
    • Extensive travel requirements to meet with, train and assist local asset operators in Wyoming and Oklahoma. The expectation is that 2 out of 4 weeks per month will involve out-of-town travel.
    • Work effectively with Spire’s shared services organizations, including legal, treasury, accounting, etc.
    • Support the forecasting of monthly and daily injection and withdrawal volume capability for storage
