JOB POSTING: CERTIFIED PROFESSIONAL MIDWIFE, OUR COMMUNITY BIRTH CENTER

We are looking for a Certified Professional Midwife to join our birth center team. Specifically, we are looking for a midwife who:

• Wants to live in Eugene/Springfield, Oregon (within a 30 minute drive of Our Community Birth Center).
• Is eager to work shifts–and not be on call all the time! And is reliably available during their on-call shifts.
• Is excited to work in a birth center with Certified Nurse Midwives.
• Wants to work as the second midwife / assisting midwife at births (there may be potential to grow beyond this if insurance credentialing is successful).
• Wants salary pay (not per birth) with access benefits including health insurance.
• Already is or wants to become an IBCLC.
• Loves providing lactation care and postpartum home visits.
• Feels inspired by nonprofit models of health care and working in a nonprofit birth center.
• Looking for a stable long-term work opportunity that allows time to develop lasting relationships with both clients and team members.

Our Community Birth Center is a community-focused organization in Springfield/Eugene, Oregon. We provide full scope midwifery care in a birth center and clinic setting. Our services include pregnancy, birth, postpartum, ultrasound, newborn care, fertility, contraception, LGBTQI+ health care, primary care, and gynecology. Our Community Birth Center has been open and providing services since fall 2021 and during that time has established a robust and experienced team to support our midwifery work. Our Community Birth Center is located in the heart of the Eugene-Springfield area in Lane County, Oregon. It’s just a short drive to the ocean, mountains, desert, and many lakes and rivers. Position type: Salary, non-exempt
Start Date: We are ready for a midwife to start October 2025; interested candidates are encouraged to apply regardless of their preferred start timeline.
Pay: $31 - $37 per hour depending on level experience and status of certifications/licensure. Plus $100 monthly on call stipend. Plus benefits (see below).
Relocation Benefit: $2,000 for relocation support (if relocation support is not needed this can be negotiated to a different purpose).

Hours: This position requires working days, nights, and weekends and includes a mix of on-call time, birth assisting and postpartum care, clinic work, admin work, care coordination, client education, and home-visits. This position also comes with Paid Time Off and holidays.
Expectations: 15 call days per month (counted in 24 hour shifts) as the second midwife / assisting midwife. When not attending a birth during these call days, the midwife will be expected to assist with other work. There will be 5 additional work days expected per month for other work. Other work includes: clinic work, postpartum homevisits, charting, lab review, administrative work, clinical support tasks, etc. Our practice averages 8-10 birth center due dates per month with a maximum of 15. The on call midwife must remain within 30 minutes of the birth center if labor may be imminent and within 60 minutes if no labors are anticipated.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE; CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:

• Certification as a Certified Professional Midwife.
• Unencumbered licensure in the State of Oregon as a Licensed Midwife, or ability to obtain promptly.
• Eligibility to work in the United States.
• Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish is preferred but not required.
• IBCLC certification is preferred but not required.
• Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program and Basic Life Support certification.
• Must qualify for malpractice insurance policy provided by Our Community Birth Center.
• Training in management/care of obstetric emergencies such as Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics (ALSO) or another similar course or program.
• Proficiency with Electronic Health Records, Microsoft Office products, Google Suite, Zoom, and a willingness to learn other computer databases and tools as needed.
• Must possess and maintain a current, valid Driver License, and reliable transportation.
• Must complete background check and driving record check successfully meeting our criteria.
