MIGRANT RECRUITER/ADVOCATE

Qualifications: 1. Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) or experience in the field

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Bilingual (written and spoken Spanish - English)

Reports to: Federal Programs Director
Job Goal:
Identify and assist migrant students in reaching their highest educational goal by linking them to the appropriate service and/or resource.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Set goals for academic improvement for migrant students through meetings and communications with students and parents/legal guardians (completed in Spanish, when necessary)
  • Schedule to meet with families and make referrals as needed.
  • Work with summer programming to meet the literacy needs of migrant students/families.
  • Collaborate on scheduling field trips.
  • Prepare documents for summer programming in Spanish (translate information that is not provided in Spanish originally).
  • Collaborate on PI programming
  • Translate all PI program information into Spanish (if not already available).
  • Assist in planning PAC meetings.
  • Contact PAC parents and translate PAC information into Spanish (if not already available - oral interpretation during PAC meetings).
  • Work as parent liaison during preschool home visits for Spanish-dominant families.
  • Coordinate all OSY lessons and services, as needed.
  • Update and create OSY lessons
  • Coordinate OSY participation at PI events.
  • Complete an OSY profile for each OSY and update accordingly.
  • Complete the ID&R plan yearly.
  • Assist in grant completion and budget.
  • Network and collaborate with community agencies and school personnel for quality services.
  • Maintain proper, current records and program documentation.
  • Tutor students and maintain records of student progress.
  • Complete all required training and attend professional development sessions.
  • Perform assigned tasks in an orderly manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Terms of Employment: 185 days (work flexibly to include evenings, weekends, and summers, as needed)
Evaluation: The performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with all provisions of the Board’s policy on the Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
