General Purpose:
Under the direction of the Shift Miller, the Miller’s Assistant is responsible for providing support to the Shift Miller and for the general sanitation of the mill.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· A minimum of Grade 12 education
· Mechanical aptitude, including a working knowledge of equipment.
· Good working relationship with management and fellow employees
· A mechanical aptitude for diagnosing and solving problems.
· Must be a self-starter, with the ability to use initiative, but also able to work as part of a team.
· Willing to work a compressed workweek (12-hour shifts)
· Available for shift work, including weekends and holidays as required and to work a varied schedule.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.47-$28.23 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week

Responsibilities

· Assists Shift Miller in all aspects of the mill ensuring product quality as per product specification sheets and maintaining extraction and load on flour runs.
· Reports pest infestation problems to the Shift Miller and Production Supervisor
· Reports any maintenance problems to the Shift Miller and Production Supervisor
· Assists Shift Miller in maintaining rolls, sifters, purifiers, and feeders in good operating condition including advising the Shift Miller and Production Supervisor of any problems.
· Responsible for ensuring the mill meets all sanitation requirements and the sanitation schedule is followed ensuring the appearance and cleanliness of mill.
· Must be familiar with the operation of the grain cleaning equipment.
· Must be familiar with the operation of the cracking mill.
· Conducts all sampling and quality assurance procedures.
· Works with the Shift Miller and/or Maintenance Personnel to conduct scheduled mill maintenance.
· Is aware of critical control points as they relate to product liability.
· Works responsibly throughout scheduled shifts.
· Responsible for compliance with Canada Labour Occupational Health and Safety requirements and company safety standards
· Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s) while performing job duties and tasks.
· Performs other tasks, including training, as required.
